“Laughter is the best medicine” that’s why the Section of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology of St. Lukes Medical Center in cooperation with Lupus Inspired Advocacy (LUISA) Project and Rheumatology Educational Trust Foundation, Inc. (RETFI) invited Ms. Elvie Punzalan-Estavillo of Laughter Yoga Club of the Philippines last 10th of July 2011 on a FREE session of fun and laughter for patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythomatosus, Psoriatic Arthritis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis.
The program kicked-off with some stretching exercises by Louie G. Mallari, PTRP, of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of St. Lukes Medical Center for strengthening and mobility of arthritic patients.
According to Elvie, laughter yoga has multi-health benefits. It lifts depression, clears the air passages, brings down cholesterol level, reduces stress level, and keeps you younger. Just what we all need!
Everyone enjoyed the session. You can see the great healing effects of laughter in the patients’ faces.
The event wrapped-up with celebration of birthday celebrants including one of our dear doctor, Dr. Juan Javier “Jombi” Lichauco.
Another successful event, thanks to the fellows and staff who organized it, participants, patients and caregivers. If you wish to learn more about Laughter Yoga Club Philippines visit their website at laughteryogaphils.com
